This story started in 2007 when I, fatieg behardien searched for my family tree in the land of our forefathers, Indonesia.

Although I did not find my silver, I inadvertently struck gold!
I discovered the area where ‘Cape Malay’ history originates, at the old harbor and the VOC offices in Fatahilla Square, Batavia.
I also learnt from the locals that we still practice their traditions and share their culture even after 35o years of separation.

I was so impressed by these discoveries of our ancestors, that I wanted to share it with my community in South Africa so that they can experience with nostalgia, the courage and sacrifices made.
It is humbling that the Indonesians regard us as the children of their warriors.

My dream for this history, a history deleted, to be taught in our schools.
I believe that if our children learn and understand their true heroes of the past, then undoubtedly their future would be better and brighter.

I started Suburban Travel and Tours Advisors merely as a vehicle to achieve these objectives.
A tour aptly named, ‘Going back to our Roots’, is predominately a leisure tour, but beautifully choreographed with a touch of our common culture, history and interaction with locals. 

Through sincere intentions, sacrifices, perseverance and hard work, Suburban Travel and Tours Advisors has now been blessed to travel to other parts of the world due to their insistence of our clients, now friends.
